3Rd internacional conference on the solutrean

Dates: 12 Oct 2017 - 14 Oct 2017 Venue: Universidade do Algarve - Campus de Gambelas  |  City: Faro, Portugal

The Solutrean techno-complex still constitutes a major focus in prehistoric research, influencing ice-age archaeology worldwide. The rich cultural heritage and distinctive palaeoenvironmental setting allows for analytical methods to be applied, tested and improved. It also serves as a case study for theory and model building for other prehistoric contexts. Advances and new discoveries are made in different research fields – such as interdisciplinary on- and off-site investigations, geostatistical approaches, and palaeoclimatic models.
The aim of the 3rd International Conference on the Solutrean 2017 is to bring together scientists working on hunter-gatherer societies of Western Europe during the Last Glacial Maximum. The conference is organized by the Interdisciplinary Center for Archaeology and Evolution of Human Behavior (ICArEHB) together with colleagues from the University of Cologne and Neanderthal Museum, and will be hosted at the Universidade do Algarve (Faro, Portugal.
